I am deeply sadened to hear of the untimely death of Rick. I was in contact with him when Gene took sick and in the days and weeks after she died so suddenly. I am grieved that I did not have contact with Rick after he took ill. I had left it to him to contact me so as not to upset him or intrude on him as he coped with Genies passing. Too much time had passed, several months since I had heard from him and I wish I had called sooner as intended. We shared some wonderful family times together, myself and my children when they lived in Nova Scotia. Gene and I were soul-mates and that is why Rick called me when she took ill. Although we lived far apart, they were my lifelong friends and I will miss both of them deeply. RIP Rick-I will tell your's and Gene's story often.

My deepest condolences on Dick's passing. We crossed paths many times in our careers, most notably when I relieved Dick as Supply Officer of HMCS Saskatchewan and later in NDHQ Ottawa. He left far too early.

Our deepest condolences to Richards family. I always enjoyed chatting with Richard while taking walks around our neighbourhood. I was shocked by Genes death, and now Richard. They were such lovely people, so terribly sad

I am very sorry to hear of Richard's {and Genie's} deaths. I still remember the fantastic gourmet meals Richard made. He was quite a chef. My deepest sympathy for your loss Laura. Richard was a great brother.

We have many memories of Rick & Gene, having been their next door neighbours on Campbell Street in Esquimalt (Victoria), BC and our houses were "waterfront" on the Strait of Juan de Fuca. We spent many a night around campfires spinning salty dips and "gourmet" camping. Many fond memories - rest in peace Rick, you are with Gene now.

We were very surprised to find out Rick was in the hospitality and when we did go to see him, were told he has passed on the evening before. We had lost in touch with Rick and Gene, but always remembered them and talked often about the thinks we did together and laughs we all had. My condonlences to the whole family.

Richard really enjoyed a zest for life, and not unlike his niece, so appreciated spice and unique flavour in his food! I once made a hot pepper pepper jelly and Gene called me to tell me how much they enjoyed it. When I was in university in Ottawa they took me out to restaurants, in particular one evening to a French restaurant they loved. Such a treat to have them share that with me. Then Richard told me about all the other great places to eat in the area. I have many memories but it was always nice to see my aunt and uncle growing up, very caring people that had an impact on me!

Rick was a great Brother-In-Law to us. As well, he was a caring, considerate Uncle to our sons, Alex, Andrew and Mark. We have fond memories of visiting Gene and Rick's beautiful Kemptville home and their wonderful hospitality. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
