Richard Lloyd Obituary

Richard A. "Tige" Lloyd suddenly went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014. He was the son of the late David J. Matthews and Davis Matthews-Fields and Willie D. Lloyd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Nikki D. Matthews; three brothers, David "Mitch" Lloyd, Donnell Matthews and Devin C. Matthews; paternal grandmother, Estella Matthews; maternal grandmother, Rose L. Code. Tige is survived by a wife, Anita M. Lloyd of Morgantown, W.Va.. He leaves to cherish his memory five children, Tamon D. Matthews of Denver, Colo., William "Peachie" Johnson, U.S. Airforce, Tigella Short of Hepzibah, W.Va., Richard A. Lloyd Jr. of Morgantown, W.Va., and Tanisha A. Lloyd of Monessen; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, Adalle C. Phares; two sisters, Davina C. Cook of Monessen, and Francine George of San Diego, Calif.; three brothers, Michael D. Matthews of Pittsburgh, Willis E. Love of Monessen and Francis "Red" Matthews of Charleston, S.C.; devoted friend, Lillian Butler; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Visitation will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 , at Wayman AME Church, McKee Avenue, Monessen. Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Wanda L. Sawyer-Flipping giving the Eulogy. Arrangements are being handled by the WILLIAM R. TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME, Monessen, 724-684-4877, Trudy Taylor-Williams, funeral director in charge.
