Richard Martin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 28, 2025.
Richard Francis "Dickie" Martin III passed away unexpectedly on May 21, 2025, in Norton, Massachusetts, at the age of 38.

Born on July 17, 1986, in Weymouth, Massachusetts, Richard was the cherished son of Teresa Montmagny of Kingston and Richard F. Martin Jr. and his wife Katherine of Somerset. He spent his early years in Scituate, where he attended Cushing Elementary and Gates Intermediate School before moving to Taunton and graduating from Taunton High School.

Richard, affectionately known as Dickie by those who loved him, was a devoted husband and father. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 20 years, Joanna, and their five adoring children: Molly, Evan, Jack, Jane, and Cora-all of Norton. He also shared a special bond with Jacqueline of Canton, whom he and Joanna lovingly considered their "6th child."

He is mourned by his siblings Craig, Jeffrey, Jason, and Melanie (husband Naja), all residing on the South Shore; as well as his step-siblings Andrew (wife Lindsay), Derek (wife Jessica), and Breanna Corsini of East Taunton. Richard's memory will be cherished by his in-laws John and Katherine Dever of Canton; brothers-in-law John (wife Laura) of Canton and Matt (wife Jessie) of Easton; and the entire Dever family. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins-most notably his cousin and lifelong best friend Corey Dixon (wife Kelli) of Middleboro.

Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents Louise Hopkins of Scituate; Anthina Christi (Mullo) of Bridgewater; and Richard F. Martin (wife Katherine) of Easton.

Those who knew Richard will remember him for his unmatched wit and humor-his ability to tell a story or joke that would leave everyone laughing until their sides hurt. His passions were many: he was an avid enthusiast of dirt bikes and street bikes, a collector of guns and bows, a connoisseur of scotch and bourbon, and deeply knowledgeable about the outdoors. A longtime employee of Clear Water Pump and Well Service, Richard was known for his strong work ethic and skill with his hands. Whether in his backyard or garage, there was no object he couldn't fix.

Above all else, Richard's greatest joy came from being a husband and father. His family was the center of his world-the source of his deepest pride and love.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later time.

May the memory of Richard Francis "Dickie" Martin III bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to shine brightly through the lives he touched.

Man, I want to pick up the phone so bad and call you. I want to hear anything you wanted to tell me bro. I find myself now just sitting and staring out into wonder. Hoping wherever you are your watching over your wife and kids man. It wont be the same without and we will miss you everyday. I pray you are with the ones we lost. Gramps, Nana Christy, Grammy Hopkins, Auntie Myrna they all hold you now and until we meet again you will live forever in my heart and memories will carry us through remembering your witty funny ways. You were a real one bro. I, no we miss you so much man. A.M.L.F bro. Rest in Peace brother.
