Richard Miller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 31, 2019.
Richard Stanley Miller was born on November 10, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in Chicago and eventually moved to live in Aurora, Illinois and graduated from East Aurora High School in 1950. Richard then served in the U.S. Navy as a gunner machinist on the U.S.S. Wright for about 4 years. He was then employed by Northern Illinois Gas in the corporate accounting department, where he met his wife Lois. Richard continued to work for NI Gas for over 30 years until his retirement. After retirement, Richard enjoyed playing golf, making high quality wood projects for many family and friends, and loved to spend the majority of his time with his loving wife, Lois, and his two children and six grandchildren. Richard and Lois were blessed with 62 years of love filled marriage. Richard was a loving, caring person who had a smile and a kind word for everyone. He was always willing to show up with his bucket of tools to create, repair, or paint anything he was asked to help with. Richard was a quiet man, but his love, loyalty and character shined brightly. Richard passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 31, surrounded by his family in North Aurora. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Margaret (Carpentier) Miller. He is survived by his wife, Lois (Martin) Miller, his son Gregory (Carla) Miller, his daughter Jennifer (Jeff) Hunger, grandchildren Anne Miller, Marshall (Christina) Miller, Shannon Miller, Gabby (Josh) Haugen, Michael Hunger, and David Hunger. Richard's immediate family will hold a private service at the columbarium at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Aurora. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer's. A link is provided by Healy Chapel. Richard is a believer in Jesus Christ and so we rejoice that he is now safely in the arms of Jesus. We are holding on to God's promises that we will be reunited in God's glorious Kingdom. For eternity our family together will be serving our Lord, Savior, and Redeemer Jesus Christ for time without end. Amen, come Lord Jesus.

My heart is heavy for you, Lois, Greg, Jenny, and all family members. Hook was a longtime friend, always willing to help and share his talents ( building pinewood derby cars, repairs, etc). I will never forget his kindness to my parents, myself, and my boys. God bless you all. I'm keeping you in my prayers and in my heart. With sympathy and love , Cathy
