Richard Morgan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 22, 2024.

Richard Dean Morgan, affectionately known as Dick, was born in Seattle, WA on January 19, 1946. He passed away peacefully in La Quinta, CA on July 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness.

Dick is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Kathleen; his children, Jeffrey (Hilarie) Morgan, Kenny Rubino, and Antoinette (Brian) Kirk; and his cherished grandchildren, Augustus and George Morgan, and McKenna Rubino. He also leaves behind his siblings, Leslie Morgan, Scott Morgan, and Mark (Lisa) Morgan, along with several nieces and nephews.

Richard will be fondly remembered for his keen attention to detail and his genuine interest in the lives of those around him. His masterful storytelling of family history created countless priceless and joyful memories, especially cherished by his siblings.

He loved his grandchildren dearly and treasured time spent with them, often telling others how proud he was of them and sharing precious stories about things they said or were doing.

In his professional life, Dick was known for his focus, precision, and decisiveness. His passion for action and his philosophy of working hard, working smart, and playing hard were guiding principles that never wavered. As a coach and mentor, he developed countless individuals into top performers and company leaders, adding incredible value and growth to the organizations he served. His straightforward business approach and unique style often made his achievements seem effortless.

You always knew where you stood with Richard. He had quick comebacks and smart advice. There was something in how he expressed himself that always made others want to be better. A man of integrity who inspired others to the end. May you rest in peace Dick Morgan, we love you.

A private ceremony will be held in Maui, Hawaii with his immediate family.

"Please smile and do not shed a tear, wipe away that silly frown,

I'm off upon that final ride, another Biker who has gone down."

It is 5 months since Dick´s passing, I have just learned of it and am so sad for his family. We were school mates in high school and although I seldom saw or spoke with him outside our reunions, he was always so kind and good-humored and he got more handsome with every reunion. His wife Kathy was equally as nice and I can only imagine the void in her life now that he is gone after their 42 years together. My heart goes out to all the family with the hope that all those special memories you have of him will only grow sweeter with time and bring you a quiet kind of joy and gratitude that will keep him close to you always.

My relationship with Dick, started with him as my boss. Quickly, and more importantly, we became friends. That was 40 years ago.

Whenever we have connected since then we have picked right up and continued where we left off. He was always both a good listener and happy to answer curious questions. I loved our conversations. He always had a point of view with a touch of humor, while being open to thinking about things differently. Unique.

I will miss our texts, calls, zooms, and connecting in person. RIP, Mr. Morgan. You are missed.

We met with Dick to go over some motorcycle routes in SoCal. He offered to lead the way & off we went. That was the beginning of our friendship; which continued to grow with both Dick & Kathleen. We will certainly miss his companionship; wit and wisdom and are grateful for the time we shared. Ron & Ginny Witkin
