ALGONQUIN - Dr. Richard L. Niequist, 79, of Algonquin, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

He was born Nov. 25, 1926, in Chicago.

He was a chiropractor in Algonquin for 56 years.

He was a member of Prairie State Chiropractic Association, International Chiropractic Association and the Christian Chiropractic Association.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was a Cubs and Bears fan, and enjoyed fishing and golf. He was a licensed pilot.

Survivors include his wife, Faye (Nelson); four children, Dan (Diane) Niequist, Dave (Laura) Niequist, Dennis (Carol) Niequist and Debi (Randy) Waterman; five stepchildren, Steve (Becky) Nelson and Tim Nelson; his grandchildren, Aaron (Shauna) Niequist, Amy (Austin) Fannin, Emily Niequist, Eric Niequist, Joshua Niequist, Jeremy Niequist, Jared Niequist, Ali Waterman, Ben Waterman, James Waterman, Jake Waterman and Natalie Waterman; and three stepgrandchildren, Karl Nelson, Britta Nelson and Erik Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorelise Niequist.

The visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Willow Funeral Home, 1415 W. Algonquin Road, Algonquin. The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Algonquin Cemetery.
