RICHARD REBA Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 10, 2025.

Richard A. Reba, Sr. 75, formerly of West Hazleton, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 7th.

Richard graduated from Hazleton High School in 1967, and from The Pennsylvania State University in 1970. Although a Mountaineer, he embraced the Alma Mater of his wife, the former Nancy Getz, as their children went to West Hazleton High School. He loved encouraging youth as a beloved little league and girls softball coach, active band parent, and leader of the Parks and Rec department of West Hazleton when he served as a Councilman for the 2nd ward. He enjoyed singing in the choir at the West Hazleton Trinity Lutheran Church before he and his wife retired to Gulf Shores, Alabama, near the beach for the past 14 years.

Besides his wife of 55 years, he is survived by his son, Richard A. Reba, Jr. and his wife Sherry of Gaithersburg, MD; daughter Sheila (Reba) Bottjen and her husband Jason, of San Antonio, TX; sister Theresa Chowdhury of Portland, OR; grandsons Dominick Reba, Christopher Reba, Xavier Bottjen, and Dimitri Bottjen, and a niece and several nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either West Hazleton Trinity Lutheran Church, or the Michael J Fox The Parkinson's Foundation at https://www.michaeljfox.org/
