Richard Rhodes Obituary
Dick was born February 25, 1941 to Raymond and Helen Rhodes in Sacramento, California. He graduated from Stanford with his BS in Industrial Engineering and Computer Science; and received his MBA from Harvard Business School in Manufacturing and Finance. Dick also served in the United States Coast Guard from 1966-1968.
It was in 1981 when Dick met the love of his life, Laura Munding. They met in Palo Alto, California. Richard and Laura married in 1983 and began their life together in the Bay area. During this time, they built their robust careers-Dick at Genentech, Collagen, and Oracle, Laura at IBM and other software companies. Dick and Laura eventually moved to the Seattle area in 2006.
Dick enjoyed skiing and vacationing at Lake Tahoe, traveling the world, and building friendships. He also enjoyed watching Sunday football and winning the occasional football pool. Photography and music were also part of Dick's life passions. He enjoyed singing in the Stanford Men's Glee Club, Stanford Choir, and in later years in the Unity Church Choir and Trilogy Singers Club.
Dick is survived by his son Richard D. Rhodes (Danielle), Julianna Rhodes, Michael Rhodes (Leslie), Robert Rhodes, and Kathryn Rhodes-Matranga (David); grandchildren Olivia, Fiona, Sonia, Ava, Clara, Chloe, Eden, Savannah, and Austin.
A memorial service will be held on June 28, 2025 at 1:30 p.m.
