Richard (Rick) Tracy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 23, 2024.
Rick Tracy passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024 at St. Helena Hospital after a short illness.

Rick was born September 9, 1941 in Oakland, CA to Richard and Johanna Tracy. After attending Castlemont High School, in Oakland, CA, he was married to Kate (Bradley) Tracy and had four children - Rich, Brad, Polly and Michelle. In 1972, the family relocated from the Bay Area to Lebanon, OR where he owned Van's Stationary and Printers and later worked at the local plywood mill.

While in Lebanon, he was active with civic organizations including, the Jaycees, the Lions Club and Elks Club where he held the highest position of Exalted Ruler. During his time in Lebanon he was active as a volunteer fireman and paramedic, a Lebanon Strawberian and was selected as Lebanon's Junior First Citizen in 1974.

In the early 80s, when the lumber industry slumped, he moved back to the Bay Area where he worked in the auto industry, ultimately managing a local dealership in Richmond, CA. Rick retired in 2003 to Kelseyville, CA. After Kate, his wife of 47 years passed away in 2008, Rick married Elaine Breatt Tracy in 2010 where they enjoyed retired life in Lake County.

Rick was an avid golfer until the very end, shooting his 1st hole-in-one on Jan 1, 2017 at Buckingham Golf Club in Kelseyville, CA and even shooting an Eagle on his 80th birthday at Eagle Crest in Bend, OR.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michele Victoria Tracy (who passed away in 1990) and his first wife Kate Tracy.

Rick is survived by his wife, Elaine Breatt Tracy of Lakeport, CA; children Rich and wife Dana Tracy of Lebanon, OR; Brad and wife Jacquie Tracy of Portland, OR; Polly Tracy and husband Doug Mora of Concord, CA; stepson Jason Breatt and stepdaughter Suzanne Breatt; and grandchildren Rachele, Briana, Lauren and Julia.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Buckingham Golf Club in Kelseyville, CA followed by private services at IOOF cemetery in Lebanon, OR where he will interred with Kate and Michelle.

My deceased husband, Steve Baker and I knew your parents well while they lived here. We were in the Jaycees and Elks together. I'm sorry for your loss.

My favorite memory with Gramps aka Rick would have to be golfing with him. He was so happy to be out on the golf course and always let me hop in his cart for a ride, even if I barely played myself. He even bought me my very first set of golf clubs back in the day, in hopes I could carry on the Tracy legacy. I may have never gotten good but I never stopped loving joining him on the golf course.

I met Rick when Kate brought him over to the house on a date! When they moved to Lebanon, I didn't see them for quite a while, then we began our friendship all over again. We often were in separate states, but it was a lifelong friendship. I think I enjoyed time with them most at the lake, we were always seeing or doing something new & different, they seemed more relaxed there. Love to all the family, I will miss them both but have wonderful memories.
