FORT MYERS, Fla. — Richard D. Short, born and raised in Piqua, passed away on March 21, 2017 in Fort Myers, FL at age 76.
Dick was the youngest of three sons of Harold L. Short and Lefa Davis Short.
He was a graduate of Piqua Central High School and Miami Jacobs College.
He married his high-school sweetheart, Linda Lou Roberts, on April 8, 1961. This year would have been their 56th anniversary.
He is survived by his wife Linda and daughter Debbie (and Tom) Stovall of Bogart, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Harold (Jim) and Donald.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled on Saturday, April 22nd at 2pm at Faith United Methodist Church, 15690 McGregor Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL 33908.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Faith UMC in his memory.

Dear Linda & Debbie, We remembered Dick last week as we wrapped up our annual trip to Siesta Key. So sorry we could not get together (as usual) as we were extremely busy this entire trip. Didn't even see my brother in Ft. Meyers either. We are returning via Cedar Key and Charleston, SC before arriving back in Ohio. Maybe next year year! Hope time is helping to heal the sorrow in your hearts. We sure do miss hearing from Dick in keeping us updated on schoolmates - and to just see at least once a year. We are so sorry about your loss Linda and Debbie. We have known you and Dick for a very long time and have had many enjoyable times together. I hope we can continue that Linda. Dick, you were such a good friend to me...I know they don't have "flying monkeys " in heaven..but I made sure those people knew about them....I will miss your wise advice and that beautiful laugh. I was privileged enough to have you as a friend and confidant for 7 yrs..you will be missed terribly. Linda, my Heart goes out to you! Love you both, Valerie
