Richard Hugh Toland

Mr. Richard H. Toland of Kingston passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, after living a long and fulfilling 67 years. Richard is survived by his two sons, Patrick and Richard, both of Middletown, New Jersey; Brothers Father Eugene Toland of Bolivia, Robert Toland of Pembroke, MA and John Toland of Pembroke, MA; Sisters Linda Vogel of Port Charlotte, FL and Susan Mullin of Quincy, MA. Also surviving is his loving granddaughter, Taylor Marie of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Born in Boston, son of the late Dennis and Anne Toland, Richard grew up in Charlestown, MA and attended Boston Latin High School and Bentley College before enlisting in the United States Army for active duty. In 1970, Richard moved to Braintree, MA and began his professional career with the JM Huber Corporation in Westwood, Ma. After moving to Middletown, NJ in 1980, he continued his exceptional professional career as a senior management executive running the company's nationwide business operations. As important as his career was to him, Richard's first priority and passion was watching his two sons play high school football. Retiring at an early age of 52, Rich moved to Treasure Island, Florida, where he enjoyed hosting good friends and family in his beautiful and inviting waterfront home on the Gulf Coast. Richard always enjoyed telling entertaining stories, singing memorable songs, and watching the dolphins swim by from the beautiful view of his backyard oceanfront deck. Visitation in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 2 Maquan St., at the corner of Rte 14 & 58 in HANSON on Saturday morning from 8:30-9:30 Am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1 Maquan St., Rte 14 in Hanson.
