Richard Verrette Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 13, 2017.
Richard "Ricky" Verrette, a native and lifelong resident of Morgan City was unexpectedly called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the age of 67.

A businessman, Ricky was the proud founder, owner, and operator of Tri City Custom Sheet Metal of Morgan City. Though he was a hardworker, to Ricky family came first. He was the kind of father and grandfather who would never miss a family event. Each barrel race, softball, baseball, volleyball, and football game was attended by Ricky. In his spare time, Ricky enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking on the grill. A season ticket holder, Ricky was a proud fan of LSU Football and could always be seen wearing a LSU cap. A wonderful father, grandfather, and friend, Ricky was the kind of person who would do anything for another. His presence will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Ricky leaves to cherish his wonderful memory his daughter, Becky Fontenot and her husband, Jeff; three grandchildren, Jesse, Haley, and Tate Fontenot; and two siblings, Micky Carmouche and his wife, Barbara, and Darrel Carmouche.

Ricky was preceded in death by his mother, Enola Verrette; his grandmother, Stella Verrette and his grandfather, Leonard "Leon" Verrette.

The family requests that a time of visitation be observed on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 9:00am until time of services at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Ricky on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 11:00am at Holy Cross Catholic Church with graveside services following in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Pallbearers for Ricky will be Jeff Fontenot, Jesse Fontenot, Scotty Manual, Micky Carmouche, Darrel Carmouche, Dusty Parrish, Todd Franklin, Andre Landry, and Charlie Solar. Honorary pallbearers will include Tate Fontenot and Larry Stanley.

I always considered Ricky a good friend, He was also a great father and grandfather. He was so proud of his daughter and grandchildren, he was always telling me stories about them. He was always ready to help anyone who needed him. He will be missed greatly by all. I am so sorry for your loss and I am sorry that I will be unable to attend Monday, but I will be thinking about all of you.

Ricky always showed love and kindness to everyone. He had a gentle spirit. My thoughts and prayers are for Ricky, Becky, Jeff and all of his family. I also pray for Jesse, Haley and Tate. I have seen this pain in their eyes before and now I am seeing it once again. I pray that Our Lord Jesus comforts them. I know that they will always know how much their grandfather love them.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Ricky was RJ's best buddy for over forty years. Numerous times when I would call RJ, he would tell me that he had just talke to his "Main Man Ricky." I can only imagine the conversations they are having about LSU right now. You were his everything Becky---you will have memories to cherish forever. Huge love and prayers for all.
