Richard Wanke Obituary
When he was a kid, he hitchhiked from Illinois to California to visit his sister and when he got there he met Roy Rogers. Upon his return, he joined the US Army and was placed in the 11th Airborne Company.
He served in Korea as a Medic until he was transferred to Germany where he ran the military hospital. Richard enjoyed selling cars and meeting people during his time as a Dodge Salesman.
He liked horses and was a member of the local American Legion Post 155 in Crystal River. Richard was a Christian and knew Jesus as his Savior.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Ruth Meckler, Robel Wanke Sr., Harold Wanke and Shirley Szeluga.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary O. Wanke, children Kim Marie Klein and husband Terry and Richard Eugene Wanke, Jr.; sister Patricia Campbell; grandchildren Max Klein, Amanda Klein and Sophia Klein as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3PM, Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Four Square Gospel Church in Crystal River. Live streaming of services available at CR4S.ORG. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Brown Funeral Home & Crematory in Lecanto, FL.

Remembering Richard today on his 90th Birthday. We attended grade school together in Cherry Valley, Ill He was on the Basketball team.
