Richard Winkowski Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 2, 2025.
Richard Carl "Rich" Winkowski Sr., 72, passed away on July 23, 2025, in Sevierville, Tennessee. Born on August 17, 1952, in Trenton, New Jersey, Rich lived a life marked by dedication to his work, love for the outdoors, and deep devotion to his family.

Rich spent much of his professional life behind the wheel, working as a driver for Waste Management for 25 years. After retiring from driving, he continued contributing to the company by working at the landfill for another five years. Even after officially retiring, Rich remained active with side jobs that kept him busy and connected to his community.

A man who found joy in simple pleasures, Rich was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and could often be found on the golf course when time allowed. He played horseshoe's and cornhole at the Jackson Moose in NJ where he was a member. Above all else, he cherished spending time with his family-moments that brought him great happiness and fulfillment.

Rich was a beloved member of Saint John's Catholic Church in Lakehurst, New Jersey. His faith was a steady presence throughout his life and provided comfort and strength to him and those around him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ginger Winkowski; his children: Rich Winkowski Jr., Eric Winkowski, Brian Winkowski, Marty Richards, and Angie Richards; his siblings John Winkowski Jr., Katherine McCusker (Clint), Steve Winkowski (Anna Marie), and Barbara Leistner (Dennis). Rich also held dear his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who were touched by his warmth and humor.

He was predeceased by his parents, John Winkowski Sr. and Bertha Winkowski; and his brother Michael Winkowski.

Those who knew Rich will remember him not only as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle-and above all-a genuinely kind-hearted person. His signature phrase echoed through many gatherings: "It's 5 o'clock somewhere!!!!" A reminder of his lighthearted spirit that brought smiles to so many faces.

May Richard Carl "Rich" Winkowski Sr.'s memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.

Memorial Service and Repast to be held in NJ at a later date.
