Richard Zimmerman Obituary
Richard A. Zimmerman, age 57 of Orangeville, IL, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. He was born July 31, 1963 to Leo and Norma (Richtemeyer) Zimmerman. He was a 1981 graduate of Orangeville High School and went on to attend Highland Community College. Richard married Kristi Allen on August 25, 1984.
In his younger years, he worked on his uncle’s farms in Orangeville and Dakota. He later worked for Dean’s Foods and was currently working at Berner Foods, where he had been for the last 35 years. Richard was a member of Bethel UMC of Afolkey. He was also a member of the Cedarville Snow Traveler’s Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling and most of all spending time with his family. He loved music and never missed a chance for a good time with friends and family. He will always be lovingly remembered as a hardworking, caring and giving man.
He is survived by his wife, Kristi Zimmerman of Orangeville; sons, Alex (Haley) Zimmerman of Milwaukee, WI who are expecting his first grandson in January and Brandon Zimmerman of Dixon, IL; his parents, Leo and Norma Zimmerman of Afolkey, IL; siblings, Gerry Zimmerman of Galesburg, IL, Pam (Rob) Woolever of Dakota, IL, Marsha (Craig) Daughenbaugh of Dakota, IL, Mark Zimmerman of Rock City, IL, Debbie (Neal) Obert of Orangeville, IL, and Jenny Bovee of Moline, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Private family services will be held at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota, IL. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name. Condolences may be shared with his family at www.walkermortuary.com.

Hi Kristi, I am very sorry to hear of Ricks passing. Not sure if you remember me, I was married to Mel Dietmeier . I remember Rick always being a fun loving guy, loved to laugh, and that is a great memory I have of him . Im sure you have wonderful memories that will forever stay in your heart! Kris and Family, Rick was a great co-worker, always helpful, cordial, and fun to be around. He was always concerned about people and took time to learn about you and your family. He was a good teacher of all that he knew. I will miss his laughter, friendship and commitment. Please know he was instrumental in helping us build the new factory and start-up several of the new processes. He was a true professional. Although I have moved on to a new company, I will always remember him as someone that introduced me to Dairy Products.
