Risa,
It should have been age before beauty. You were a beautiful person, inside and out. During the whole time we were growing up, we could always count on each other, no matter what. We kept each other's secrets, knew about each other's crushes, covered for each other, hung out together, and protected each other.
Growing up with a bunch of girls, there were times when we would fight against each other or some of the sisters would gang up on another. It would work itself out eventually. Then we would turn on the radio or record player and start singing to our favorite group. You would be the lead singer and Denise and I would be the backup singers. This continued on into our adult years at our family Christmas parties. We sang to Donny Osmond's song "Puppy Love," Tony DeFranco's "It's a Heartbeat, It's a Love Beat," David Cassidy's "I Think I Love You," and Shaun Cassidy, just to name a few.
These were just some of the boys whose pictures you would take from Tiger Beat Magazine's centerfold and pin on your side of the room, kissing them every night before bed.
This is just one small memory of our life together, growing up. I love you, Risa, and I miss you terribly. I will see you in Heaven someday.

I was introduced to Risa in 2002, in the parking lot of LAPD Foothill station. I was told by my partner that she was the best parole agent. It only took a phone call at midnight, to see it was true. She helped me put a lot of bad guys back in prison. We soon became really good friends, finding out her Starbucks order was a chi latte, at 175°and no foam, (I believe that's right). She quickly became part of our family and she allowed us into hers. We'll always treasure the time we stayed with her at her home in Pismo Beach, and having to go through all the antique shops in town. We will forever love you, and have you in our hearts.

Risa was my mentor when I became a parole agent in 2008. She took me under her wing and made sure to steer me in the right direction. She would say something I say all the time, "It´ll all come out in the wash." She was always put together beautifully and she was so talented. She was my teacher and one of my closest friends. Memories of her that I will forever cherish:
Her and her crazy long chai drink order at Starbucks
Her delicious treats
Her story of watching football with her dad and picking the Vikings because she loved the color purple
Breaking her collar bone teaching a class and asking me to get her purse so she could put on lipstick before the firemen got there
Her way with decor
Her love of the beach
Her great sense of humor
Her love for her daughters and her grandkids
Her love for her animals
She was beautiful inside and out and we didn´t have to talk every day for me to know she loved me.
You are now on an amazing vacation my sweet friend. I will see you again.
