GREENSBORO - Rita Louise Slade Bass departed this life on Saturday, December 9, 2006, at Moses Cone Hospital.

She was born on June 19, 1941, in Guilford County. Rita was the oldest daughter born to Paul and Evelyn Slade. Rita grew up in the White Oak Grove Community. Rita attended the Popular Grove Public School in Guilford County.

Rita married Cordus William Bass on August 12, 1959. Seven children were born to this union, Cordelia B. Pearsal, Summerfield, Sharon B. Galloway (Bryan) Saginaw, Mich., Charles N. Bass, Fayetteville, Bernadette Farrow (Alvin), Greenville, S.C., Cornelius Bass, Greensboro, Reuben G. Bass, Summerfield, Jewel S. Florence, Greensboro, and Thurman L. Slade of Greensboro.

Rita was predeceased in death by her husband, Cordus W. Bass and their oldest son, William. She was also predeceased in death by her grandmother, "Mama Erah".

Rita leaves to celebrate her life her children; her brothers, Fred Slade (Anniebell), and Melvin Slade and Bill McLean (uncle). Her grandchildren, Nathan Galloway, Brice Farrow, Darrin Bass, Chaddrick Gallaway, Cody Pearsal, Brooklyn Bass, Jada Bass, and Ava Farrow. Also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Perry J. Brown Funeral Home.
