RITA CHANG FONG Rita Chang Fong was called to her eternal resting place on April 26, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones. She is now reunited with some of her family members who meant the world to her including her father and mother, Kim Hoy and Alice Chang. Rita was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on April 2, 1923, and was blessed with a long and fulfilling life. After her retirement from a career she enjoyed with the Federal Government where she won numerous awards, Rita moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to be with the rest of her family and started her second career as a doting Po-Po helping to raise her grand-daughter Krysten from the time she was 4 until her graduation from high school. From ballet school to managing Girl Scout cookie sales, Rita and Krysten were inseparable. Rita, along with her daughter and son-in-law, Roger and Sabrina Danels, moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, over five years ago. Rita loved her adopted home, with its four seasons and peaceful surroundings. She especially loved watching the bunnies in her back yard playing to their hearts content and the beautiful blanket of snow each winter. Rita is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, brother Willie Chang, sister Barbara Jeong, 4 grandchildren - Krysten Floyd, Jim Danels, Laurie Danels and Peter Danels, 3 great-grandchildren - Heather Danels, Brooklynn Danels and Jimmy Danels, one great-great-granddaughter, Zola, born this month and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A private family service for Rita is being held today in Santa Fe, her adopted hometown. A Celebration of Life event will be hosted by her family in early June in the San Francisco Bay Area where she lived for over 25 years. Later this year, Rita will return to her birthplace in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she will be laid to rest with other family members who preceded her including her beloved son, Jeff, that she loved so dearly. In memory of Rita, hug your loved ones today. Rita looked at the world through rose-colored glasses and always saw the best in everyone. Rivera Family Funerals and Cremations 417 East Rodeo Rd.
