Robert Peter "Bob" Bain Sr.

Robert "Bob" Peter Bain Sr., aged 78, of South Boston, Massachusetts, passed away on August 18, 2024. Born in South Boston on July 25, 1946, Bob was a true Southie at heart, affectionately known as the "King of East Third Street."

Bob dedicated many years to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority as a Motorman, expertly navigating the Red, Green, and Blue Lines until his retirement. A man of resilience and compassion, Bob was deeply committed to his family, overcoming the profound loss of his daughters, Carol and Cheryl, to cystic fibrosis. This personal tragedy fueled his lifelong support for others, especially in caring for his mother, Theresa, during her later years.

Bob's passion for travel led him to explore the world with his beloved wife, Nancy, visiting favorite destinations such as London, Dublin, Edinburgh, Venice, Florence, Rome, Paris, Munich, Brussels, Amsterdam, Prague, Barcelona, 3 cities in Canada, and various U.S. cities, including many visits to the magical realms of Disney and Universal Studios.
These journeys were among his most cherished experiences.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Nancy Bain; son, Bobby Bain Jr.; grandson, Jonathan "JT" Bain; siblings, Theresa Balbuena and Jeanette Finnegan; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Theresa C Bain; father, Robert J Bain; daughters, Cheryl A Bain and Carol J Bain; and siblings, Mary Krantz, Dennis Bain, James A Bain, and Marguerite Maguire.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date. Casper Funeral & Cremation Services, located at 187 Dorchester Street, South Boston, MA 02127, is assisting the family during this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob can be made to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, honoring his enduring legacy of care and support for those battling the disease that deeply impacted his family.
