BARBANELL--Robert L.,

of Manhattan, age 87 years, died on August 30, 2017 from complications of recent surgery. An eleven year survivor of pancreatic cancer, Bob was the son of Morris Barbanell and Leah Lorentz, devoted and beloved husband for 30 years of Betsy Shack Barbanell, loving father of Edward Barbanell (Melissa), treasured stepfather to Larry Feld (Karen), Mark Feld and Ellen Feld (Jan Schwartz), proud grandfather of Zachary and Calvin Barbanell, loving brother of Arthur Barbanell, admired uncle of Meredith Sands and respected brother-in-law of Robert and Carol Shack. Robert attended Swarthmore College and graduated from New York University. He began his investment career at Loeb Rhoades and retired as a Managing Director of Bankers Trust. He served on many boards both corporate and non profit. His intellectual curiosity, strong sense of values and occasional wry humor will be missed. Funeral services are private. Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
