88, died Wednesday, July 12, 2006. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Fordham Room at Belle Meade on Friday, July 21, 2006. The son of the late Lila Gilmore Casselberry and Howard Cheney Casselberry of Lock Haven, PA, was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 18, 1918. He is survived by his two brothers, Howard A. Casselberry of Lock Haven, PA and Calvin G. Casselberry of Naples, FL; a daughter, Louise Silk of Lynchburg, VA; a son, Howard B. Casselberry of San Diego, CA; six step daughters, Karen Dudley of Concord, VA, Susan Dodge of Leesville, SC, Teri Osborne of Richmond, VA, Leslie Dodge of Sanford, NC, Janice Brown of Pittsburgh, PA and Jill Spargo of Perth, Australia; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, Class of 1940, a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and Phi Beta Sigma and Tau Beta Pi Honorary Societies. He was the Manager of the Penn State baseball team for the 1939-1940 season, and a member of the Blue Key and Skull and Bones Societies. Upon his graduation, he went to work for Bethlehem Steel Corporation. He joined the Navy in 1944. After he was discharged in 1946, he was employed by General Electric Company, where he spent the remaining 32 years of his working career. He was a member of IEEE, and received their "Avant Garde" award for his work in the Vehicular Telecommunications Section. He retired from GE in 1978 and continued to work as a consultant in the Telecommunications field until 1983. He moved to Pinehurst from Lynchburg, VA in 1984. He served in various offices over a period of five years for the Pinehurst #6 Property Owners Association. He was a teaching member of the Moore County Literacy Council, and was a communicate of Presbyterian Community Church. In September 2000 he married Ruthel Fox and they moved into Belle Meade in January 2001, where they continued in residence until her death in August, 2005 and now his death. Memorials may be made to Expansion of Occupation and Therapy Unit at St. Joseph of the Pines, 100 Waters Drive, Southern Pines, NC 28387, attention: Rebecca Listrom or to a charity of the donor's choice.
