Robert Edward Gray Cole

COLE Robert Edward Gray October 16, 1946 - April 30, 2009It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bob on April 30th, 2009. Bob is survived by his wife Brenda and sons Sam and Terry who will miss him greatly. He was born at St. Paul's Hospital and spent the last two months of his life there. A long time resident of West Vancouver, Bob graduated from West Vancouver Secondary School and then went on to UBC where he graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture in 1969. After articling in Prince George, Bob earned his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation in 1975. In 1980, along with five other CAs, Bob established the firm of Smythe Ratcliffe where he would practise for the next 29 years. Bob dedicated his life to his profession and also worked tirelessly for the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants for many years; his professional accomplishments earned him the respect of his peers and were recognized when he received his fellowship (FCA) designation in 2005. Bob also earned a US Certified Public Accountant designation and the designation of Certified Financial Planner. In his personal life, Bob enjoyed sailing and was a longstanding member of the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club. He was also very active in the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron, serving in several capacities including District Commander of the Pacific Mainland District. A gathering to remember Bob's life will be held on May 12th, 2009 at 2:00PM at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, 3811 Point Grey Road, Vancouver. The family gratefully declines flowers and request donations be made instead to the University of British Columbia.
