Robert Dahmen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 10, 2025.
Robert Richard Dahmen, aged 80, passed away on July 5, 2025, in Detroit, MI. Born on December 29, 1944, Bob was a cherished individual known for his simplicity, caring nature, and ability to connect with anyone he met.

Bob's early life saw him graduating from Washington State University before joining the Air Force, where he served for four years, primarily stationed in Ankara, Turkey. Taking advantage of his time there he traveled around Europe recording his adventures with new friends with his passion of photography and daily journaling. His itch for travel and new experiences later took him on a long trip across South America as well. Once settling in Portland Oregon, Bob embarked on a career in retail, working in the electronics departments of Meier & Frank and Fred Meyer. Here, he delighted in interacting with customers, often sharing stories over camera purchases and photo development. His hobbies were based around the outdoors (hiking, biking, flower photography), as well as service to others through his faith and volunteering. Bob was a devout member of the Catholic community, actively participating in several parishes throughout his time concluding at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Forest Grove, Oregon.

Robert is survived by his son, Robert C. Dahmen, and his brother, Neil Dahmen. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Broemeling (2024), and his brothers Gerald Dahmen (1989) and Wayne Dahmen (2016).

He will be laid to rest at Saint Mary of the Rosary Cemetery in Chewelah, Washington on Thursday August 21st, 2025 at 10am.
