Robert Eason Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 3, 2023.
EASON, Robert C., age 67, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his children, Aaron, Chelsea, and Tzu-Chieh (Jay), his ex-wife, Leigh, and his siblings, Alice, Hoyt, Hope, Kermit, and Hettie. Robert received his BBA from the University of Montevallo in 1977. Originally from Eclectic, Alabama, then Montevallo, Alabama, he moved to North Carolina in 1991 where he resided for his remaining years.

Robert was a man of God, integrity, great humor, and few words. His love for God, his family, nature, working with his hands, fixing anything mechanical, and knee-slapping humor extended into everything he did and the life he led. He loved listening to gospel music, Elvis, bluegrass, classic country, and his favorite radio stations. Robert lived life simply and brought a smile into the heart of everyone he met.

Robert dedicated his life to working outdoors, almost never taking a day off, choosing to bring a smile and good spirit with him every single day. He began working for the Town of Fuquay Varina's Parks and Recreation in 1992. He won employee of the year in 1995 for the town of Fuquay Varina. He started working with the Town of Holly Springs in 1996, and was one of the first employees with the then new Holly Springs Parks and Recreation. He serviced the land around Bass Lake with his landscaping company, Second Nature Landscaping, years before the town purchased the property. He started working at the park before it opened in 2000 and was opened to the public in 2004. Bass Lake Park was his pride and joy, and the people he worked with were his second family - the decades of work he put into that space brought him an abundance of happiness and purpose.

He will be lovingly remembered by a host of nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, devoted friends, landscaping clients, and his church family. His heavenly welcoming committee includes his parents, Rev. Robert C. Eason, Sr. and Deborah (Peggy) Sumner Eason, his infant son, Caleb, along with other extended family members and many of his close friends.

Robert will be fondly remembered and deeply missed. Comfort will come from knowing he is not in pain, he lived a happy life, and he is playing his can-jo in somewhere heaven.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made Holly's Nest (hollysnest.org) or the North Carolina Wildlife Commission (ncwildlife.org). Additionally, the family wishes to acknowledge and extend appreciation to the Duke Anatomical Gifts Program. His love for helping others will be honored even in death.

I cannot think of a finer person than Mr. Robert Eason. Robert cut my grass and took care of my yard for over 20 years. I am sure when he entered Heaven Jesus definitely said, "well done thy good and faithful servant". My thoughts and prayers are with Robert's family. He was truly a Guardian Angel that helped many whilst on this earth.

Our condolences to the Eason family. I feel as if I know you and he always insisted that large families are the best for growing up with an unselfish nature and this had to be true of Robert. He was always looking out for others. I spent 2 hours a week for a couple of years with this gentleman and he taught me how to spot things in my yard I never would have noticed or appreciated. We would share tea and snacks after working for a couple hours and we would always find things to laugh about. My husband and I will miss him dearly.

Robert loved Bass Lake and always made it a clean safe beautiful place to visit. I am so sad for your loss. I spent every day there for three years. Will there be a bench or memorial to him there. I will help pay for it.

I knew Robert for years from walking my dogs at Bass Lake. They loved him because he gave them treats like Panera bread. He was a hard worker at the lake, and he enjoyed playing his canjo. He even gave me a canjo when I told him I played piano and was interested in the canjo. He rescued my pup and I in a boat that got stuck on a sand bar once. Heavy winds prevented us from moving forward, so when I called the office, he came to our rescue and pulled us off into deeper water so we could cruise back to shore. Robert was very thoughtful. He took this photo of me and my chocolate lab Charlie Brown May 1, 2022 near sunset at Bass Lake as we were coming in, and he sent it to me. He kept Bass Lake looking nice and clean, and he always took time to talk. RIP my friend.

I saw Robert every day for three years when I walked the trail at Bass Lake. He was kind and very willing to share his knowledge of wildlife. He proudly kept Bass Lake a place of beauty and relaxation. He did a bit of everything to keep the lake nice. Shall truly miss him. Condolences to his family.

I knew Robert as a boy in Montevallo, AL. He and my younger brothers used to go on long all-day bicycle rides together. He was a kind, good-natured fellow and I always thought he was a wholesome friend for my brothers. My condolences to his siblings who were also dear to me.

Accept my deepest condolences to the Eason family and friends.
Blessed to have you as a friend all these years . Too many fond memories to share here.
The stories with the chickens, Easter the duck and sweet Remi the cat plus your music on the can-"git-tar" . Always helping those in need, the animal whisperer. One of a kind beautiful man. ( who refused to have pics taken ) . Oh that once a year haircut.
