PONY - Robert R. Edwards, Jr., of Pony died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at his home.
Robert was born Aug. 25, 1925, in Virginia City, to Robert R. Edwards, Sr. and Elsie (Johnston) Edwards. He attended grade school in Cardwell and high school in Whitehall. He never graduated as he was drafted into the Army and served from May 1944 overseas for 18 months in New Caledonia, Iwo Jima, Marianas, Tinian and Okinawa and was discharged in 1946.
He met his future wife, Romona Grant, as she was a student nurse while he was a patient in St. James in 1954. They married March 17, 1955, in Pony and have lived in Pony ever since. Bob and Mona farmed and raised three children. He loved family and teasing along with playing pinochle, hunting, fishing and cheering grandkids through a lot of basketball games.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Cena (Edwards) Shaw, James Edwards and Betty (Edwards) Patacini.
He is survived by his wife, Romona Edwards of Pony; children, Penny and Tom (Edwards) Suhr of Pony, Debbie Edwards of Las Vegas, Rob and Misty Edwards of Pony; grandchildren, Duane and Jari (Suhr) Wock of Boise, Kevin and Bobbi (Suhr) Konen of Dillon, Jeff and Billi (Suhr) Taylor of Gustavus, Alaska, Dustin Suhr of Pony, and Madelyn Edwards of Pony; great-grandchildren, Kale and Kylie Konen of Dillon; numerous nieces and nephews; siblings, Jack and Frances (Edwards) Fenton of Sheridan, Philip and Keitha Edwards of Bozeman, Reid and Bev Edwards of Great Falls.
Memorial services are 1 p.m. Tuesday from the K&L Mortuary chapel at Harrison. Interment with military honors will follow in the Valley View Cemetery at Pony.

I was unfortunate in that I never met Robert. I am the sister-in-law to Sarah Grover and feel a great deal of loss for the family. May the "Celebration of life" ceremony bring peace to your hearts for Robert's passing.

Mona, Penny, Debbie, and Robbie, Bob was a one of a kind man. I always enjoy his fast wit and sarcasim and being around him. My sypathy to all of you with love.
