Robert, (Bob), Fitzgerald, father, husband, family man, athlete, entrepreneur whose grace touched many lives. To say that Bob was a devoted and compassionate husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends is an understatement. Bob touched so many lives, selflessly helping many. Sadly, Bob passed away suddenly on June 23rd at the young age of 61. His patient demeanor and wisdom inspired others to achieve more. While he loved working around the house, the outdoors, skiing, biking, and hiking, he most loved his family. He was a devoted father, husband, and family man. He loved working with his cousins to coordinate their yearly family reunion. He was also a Principal with the Bridges Construction company in Pittsburgh. He loved his work, taking great pride in the Bridges team and their accomplishments. He began his career in 1979 with his own construction company creating and renovating homes. In 1985, he founded Dicar Corporation, focusing on commercial interior construction. In 1995, he became a project manager for the Magnum Construction Company. In 1999, Bob joined Bridges, and in 2010 he became a principal at Bridges & Company. After graduating from Penn Hills High School, Bob attended The University of Pittsburgh where, as a member of the swim team, broke many records. Bob is preceded in death by his first wife Kevin. Kevin passed away in 1986, three years after their daughter Caitlin, was born. In 2008, he again found happiness marrying his current wife, Peggy. Peggy and Bob created a wonderfully blended family adding Joel and Erica, Peggy's children, now prosperous young adults. Bob loved the outdoors, but most enjoyed the time spent with Peggy, their family and their dogs. Together they would take camping trips to West Virginia, Shenandoah National Forest and Pinehurst Lodge, Allegheny National Forest with Peggy's family. Bob is one of five sons of the late Robert, Sr. and Shirley Fitzgerald. He enjoyed time with many Aunts, Uncles & cousins. He knew and loved them all. His enduring wisdom and humor will be deeply missed. Dear Father of Caitlin (Mike) Avon. Step-Father of Joel (Kristin) Pitacciato and Erica (Fiancé George, and his Son, Cade) Pitacciato. Brother of George (Lynne) Fitzgerald, Greg (Kim) Fitzgerald, Tyler (Colleen) Fitzgerald, and Mike (Pam) Fitzgerald. Friends and relatives will be received on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont.
