This song dedicated to my father

I thought of you today, and it brought tears to my eyes. 2024 has been a rough year - I lost you, and then I lost my wife over the most foolish reason. But there´s still light in my days: I get to spend time with your granddaughter several times a week. We both miss you deeply and feel the sadness of not getting the chance to say goodbye.

The doctors have told me my heart condition is worsening, so I may be seeing you sooner than expected. Save a seat for me on the other side. You are deeply missed. I love you - and when my time comes, I´ll be there.

It´s been six months since my father´s passing, and here I am, still thinking about him every day. Having his picture as my screensaver is my constant reminder of the man who meant so much to me. For some reason, I still can´t fully accept that he´s gone. I get angry at myself for moving abroad, for being so far away when I could have spent more time with him and my family

I miss our chats - or more accurately, the chats he had with me while I zoned out, trying to decipher what he was talking about. I´d give anything to hear his voice again, even if it meant listening to one of those long, meandering stories.

Happy Holidays, Pops. I hope you know how much I miss you and how much you still mean to me. Your memory lives on in every thought, every moment, and every piece of who I am.

Love you, Dad.

Your Favorite,
Ariel

Rob was a fantastic colleague from day one. He openly shared his deep convictions about immigration law and exhibited immense passion for the field. Whenever I needed guidance or had a question, he was always available, whether by phone or in person. I enjoyed our conversations about his new biking gear and the stories he shared about going places and trying new restaurants in his neighbourhood alongside his beloved wife, Procy. Did I mention he was always the first to open the office around 5-5:30ish AM? That's just the kind of person Rob was. He was an invaluable mentor to me, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside him. RIP Rob!

To the family of Robert Gard and souls who know Rob,

We were deeply saddened to hear about Rob's passing. We had the privilege of working with Rob at Immigration Attorneys, LLP, where he was not only a co-worker but also a mentor to us. He made an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of working with him. His unwavering commitment to justice, his deep compassion for clients, and his generous spirit were evident in every case he handled.

His guidance on various cases and his readiness to help whenever we had questions was something we deeply appreciated and will always remember.

Rob's dedication to his work and his kindness had a significant impact on everyone around him. His mentorship and the knowledge he shared have shaped many of us in our professional journeys. He was not only a remarkable attorney, but also a compassionate human being, always caring about society, the country, and the people who live in the world.

About a couple of months before his passing, luckily I had a chance to chat with him. While informing his conditions, Rob also said that he wished he could make it at least until November so that he could vote to save the democracy in our country, which made me cry. Until his last breath, he has never stopped caring, speaking for justice & democracy, and being compassionate about the people whom he didn´t even know. We deeply respect Rob and his sprits, and will remember him that way forever.

We had been planning to visit Rob, but unfortunately, we never had the chance as both of us were abroad. We regret not having done so, but we hope he knew how much he meant to all of us.

Please accept our heartfelt condolences. Rob's legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those he touched. He will be greatly missed.

With deepest sympathy,

Sunyoung Hur & Lydia Huang

My mom and biological father divorced when I was just 3 or 4 years old, it was Rob who stepped into the role of father in my life. He was not just a stepfather, but the dad I grew up with, the one who shaped me into who I am today.

Rob was the one who helped me get my first motorcycle and car, milestones that marked my journey into adulthood. He was incredibly loving, supportive, and always there for me. His kindness and guidance have left an indelible mark on my life.

I will miss him dearly and will always keep him in my heart. Love you, Dad. Your memory will live on in all the cherished moments we shared.
