Robert Goff Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 14, 2025.
Robert Page Goff passed away peacefully in his sleep in Spokane, WA at the age of 82 on January 4, 2025, due to the quickly declining symptoms of Dementia.

The day before he passed away, a Chaplain from Hospice came by to visit with him. He sang to him part of a hymnal song, read scripture to him, gently rubbed his arm, and said it's going to be okay. I (Sharon) believe this gave him the okay, the comfort, and the peace he needed to depart from this earth.

He was taken to Pacific Northwest Cremation .... For cremation and urn placement in order to be brought to his final resting place at Virginia Memorial Park in Forest, VA next to his wife, Alease.

He was born and raised, worked, got married, raised a family and lived in Lynchburg, VA his whole life until the last few months of his life when he traveled to Spokane, WA for the holidays where he passed away.

He served in the US Navy out of Norfolk, VA.

His career as a Draftsman at Aerofin Corporation in Lynchburg, VA spanned well over 40 years. He loved the hobby of woodworking and made beautiful furniture. He was so good at it. He built several homes in the Rustburg, VA area while also working full time. He was a hard worker.

His wife of 54 years was Janie Alease (Childress) Goff who preceded him in death in October 2018. He has greatly missed her ever since.

He was preceded by death of his brother Ronald Lee Goff and of his parents Florence Vernette Keesee Goff and Robert Pleasant Goff.

He enjoyed attending various events such as craft shows, listening to live music, going to restaurants, and going to the local farmer's market. He enjoyed having pets such as a cat and a dog around the house for most years of his life.

He diligently worked in the food pantry for many years at Hyland Heights Baptist Church where him and his wife attended.

He is survived by two sisters Shirley Lilly of Lynchburg, VA and Lola Burnett of Lynchburg VA. He is survived by daughter Pam Floyd with husband Frank Floyd, grandchildren Chaz Floyd and Dustin Floyd, great grandchildren Aubrey, Harvey, and Oakley Floyd, in Norfolk, VA. He is survived by daughter Sharon Goff and grandchildren Racheal Wichterman, Crystal Pratt, Thomas Pratt and Rebekah Dunlap, and great grandson Jackson Wichterman in Spokane, WA.

A graveside service will be held on January 24, 2025, at VA Memorial Park 11490 Forest Rd, Forest, VA 24551 at 11:00 am.

Donations can be made in his honor to the food pantry in which he worked for many years at Hyland Heights Baptist Church, Rustburg, VA.
