Robert Hensley Sr

April 6th 2024 was truly a sad day as we have lost such an amazing man. Robert Hensley Sr. of Stockton, CA passed on while at home after a battle with Metastatic Prostrate Cancer, at 89 years of age.

Robert "Buck" Hensley was one of 10 children born to George & Tressie Hensley on September 14th 1934 in Russellville (Raspberry Knob), AK. As a small child, Robert moved with his family to San Joaquin County in 1938. At the young age of 18, Robert enlisted into the U.S. Air Force and worked his way up to Staff Sergeant status. Within a few years of serving, Robert met the love of his life Patricia R. Hensley, and they got married shortly after in October of 1954. After establishing a family with his wife and their 4 children, Robert's ambitions to bring them success led him to ultimately achieving his Masters Degree in Public Administration - and entering into Law Enforcement. Robert became the Chief of Police in Auburn, CA in 1971 and retired in 1979. Not long after, Robert picked up work alongside his wife at their restaurant Mary Belles also in Auburn. Robert has also taught courses at Humphrey's College in Stockton, CA and worked as a driver for the San Joaquin RTD.

Mr. Hensley is preceded in death by his parents George &Tressie; brothers William Hensley, Glen Hensley, JD Hensley, Vernon Hensley, Dennis Hensley; sisters Jewel Allen and Bette Brose; wife Patricia Hensley; daughter Robin Butters; and granddaughter Mailin Stafford and best friend Peter Brown. He is survived by his brother Chester Hensley; sister Geraldine Herrera; son Robert "Rocky" Hensley Jr.; daughters Vickie Hensley &Alana Smith; many grandchildren; great granddaughter Tatiana Gutierrez (whom Robert gained legal guardianship of in 1995 and raised with his wife, Patt. Tatiana also was Robert's caregiver) - great grands and even great greats.

Robert enjoyed his family above all, and lived his life with a strong faith in God. You could always expect to find him at a golf course, doing handy-work at home, or a casino in his later years. He was also unarguably Elvis Presley's # 1 fan. Robert has been a wonderful leader in the lives of so many and has definitely left a huge mark on all those lucky enough to have known him. He lived a very fulfilling life traveling to almost all states across the country, going on cruises, camping and fishing. There will be no services held per Mr. Hensley's request, however, his family and friends have been loved by him through and through, and memories will be deeply cherished.
