ROTTERDAM Robert J. Hogan, 71, of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, January 18, 2005 at Ellis Hospital. Born in Troy on September 4, 1933, he was the son of the late Frank Hogan and Jane (Barbeau) Burns. Bob was a graduate of Troy Schools and from the former N.Y.S. Teachers College in Albany. A Navy veteran of the Korean War, he retired from the Department of Motor Vehicles after many years of service, once attaining the position of deputy commissioner. Robert was an avid Boston Red Sox and Notre Dame fan. He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Joan (Holian) Hogan; three children, Carol J. Smith (Bruce) of E. Berne, Sean M. Hogan (Robyn August) of Ballston Spa and Christopher Andrew Hogan (Rosemarie) of Rotterdam; five grandchildren, Jacob Rice, Rachel Rice, Matthew Hogan, Gabrielle Hogan and Melissa Willis; three great-grandchildren, Hailey, Devon and Sean; his nephews, Terry Hogan, Patrick and Dennis Mitchell; a sister-in-law, Ellen (Holian) Mitchell; his cousins, Tom Bell, Pat Shapiro, Jane Richmond, Irene Letterick, Betty Le Barron and Noella Peters; and his special pet companion, Conan. Bob was also predeceased by his brother, Frank Hogan Jr.; his brothers-in-law, Joseph Mitchell, William Holian and Austin Holian; and his nephew, Timothy Mitchell. A memorial service will be held Friday evening, January 21, 2005 at 5 p.m. at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY with a visitation being held at the funeral home from 3 to 5 p.m. prior to the service. A continued memorial celebration of Bob's life, which relatives and friends are invited will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Michael's Banquet House, Route 9, Latham, N.Y. following the memorial service. Interment with military honors in Saratoga National Cemetery. Contributions may be made in his memory to Community Hospice, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12309.

To all the Hogans my deepest sympathy and prayers go out to you. I have great memories of you all visiting us in Miami years ago. Mr. Hogan was a great guy and like an uncle to me...he will surely be missed.
