Robert Dewey Humphrey "Papa"
Papa went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Robert Dewey Humphrey "Papa" was born August 25, 1929 in Blue Creek, Washington to Dewey and Ida Humphrey. Bob had two older brothers, Gene Humphrey and Ray Humphrey. Bob lived most of his early life in Northeast Washington. He graduated from Kettle Falls High School in 1949. After graduation, he continued to work on the family farm in Rice, Washington. In 1952 he married Bennetta Leschinsky, also from Rice, and they had four children together, Eldyn, Rodney, Lynnetta, and Jannetta. Bob and Bennetta moved to Colville shortly after being married. After their oldest son, Eldyn, was born, they moved to Spokane. While in Spokane, Bob worked as a truck driver, and for the Spokane transit system, as well as doing other jobs, before starting a driving school in 1963. Papa enjoyed many hobbies such as wood working, stained glass creations, boating, camping, and fishing. In 1976, Bob and Bennetta moved to their place on Loon Lake, full time. Papa thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends at and on the lake. When Bennetta passed in 1987, Papa married Ina Mae Williams and they lived together at Loon Lake where they continued to enjoy entertaining family and friends, and Papa stayed busy with his hobbies. About seven years ago, Papa and Ina moved to Spokane where they lived until Papa's passing. Papa was preceded in death by his first wife, Bennetta; his daughter, Jannetta; and his brother, Ray. Papa is survived by his wife, Ina Mae; children, Eldyn Humphrey(Becci), Rodney Humphrey, Lynnetta Olson(Kermit); step-children, Connie Stephens(Mike), David Williams(Sheryl), Kevin Williams, and Threasa Bachman(Sam); grandchildren, Ryan, Rob, Gia, Angela, Brant, Rick, Kim, Brian, Sam Jr., and Neil; and one great- granddaughter, Mia. A Memorial service for Papa will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Valley Assembly of God church, located at 15618 E. Broadway Ave, Spokane Valley, WA.
