We are so sorry to hear about Bob. I just saw this today. We would have been at the service had we known. You have our deepest sympathy. Let good memories keep you strong, one day at a time. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I hate that we've been away so long and I haven't gotten to see Uncle Bob in recent years. Some of my absolute favorite childhood memories are hanging out with all of you guys on the boat, or wherever we all were. It makes me sad I won't get to catch up with him next time I visit. He was a great guy. Dad loves to tell stories about "Leavitt," and they never fail to amuse. He'll be missed.

Oh Lynn, I was so sorry to learn about Bob's passing. I have such fond memories of working with Bob at the Nature Center, he was such a sweet guy. I often thought of Bob through the years, as he created the beautiful little garden around the front of my house that I still lovingly tend to. How lucky I am to have such a living tribute to Bob's ability as a master gardener and an avid nature lover. I am sorry I did not learn about Bob soon enough to attend his service, but please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. The photo tribute to Bob was very beautiful.

Lynn, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. One day at a time. Cherish the precious memories, they keep you going.
I received this when Donald died and I had it read at his funeral
" Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I. and
you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old
familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was, let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was: there is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well. "

I wish to offer my sympathy and prayers for the family. I remember I took the AU kids to the nature center years ago when Bob worked there and he was so kind to them. I didn't know that Lynn was his wife! He was a great man. I am so sorry for your loss. Christina Gibson (Waterbury)

A Man for all seasons. A man of nature. A great teacher, photographer and cook,(everybody loved his wings). The go to guy for questions about animals, birds, bugs and plants. He loved a good campfire. Someone who could take a joke and good natured ribbing.
We all enjoyed his company and we will miss hime.

"Most people don't know the story of how you and Bob met. On how you and mom, on the way to the movies, went to a tropical fish store in Meriden to buy me a fish and met this cute guy there and decided he would be just right for me. Well, as it turned out, he was just right for you!! We've had a long, fun and interesting life with "Weird Beard" as we used to call him, and I enjoyed all the fun things we did together. Bob was everyone's teacher with his patience and kindness. We always turned to him to tell us the name of an animal or a flower, or anything else science related. If he didn't know it off the top of his head, which he usually always did, he would find the answer for you. He helped my boys become the science and nature lovers they are now.
We will miss him tremendously." Sister Gale

Some of the strongest memories I have, besides the Muster, is of camping on Selden's Isle. The gang would be pulling our usual stunts, and Bob would disappear. We'd always find him down on the beach, with or without the kids, digging in the sand and creating and sculpting those wonderful castles, or miniature jurassic parks. He was so creative, and a just a delightful person. I'm glad I knew him.
Love, Kathy

Bob was my mentor at Stafford High School. As a new teacher, I looked up to and admired the rapport Bob had with his students and his love of teaching. He inspired me to be the best teacher I could be. I can still see Bob sitting at his desk, smoking his pipe and working on some new lesson. He would never hesitate to stop and help anyone with a problem or a question that needed answering. In my mind, Bob left a real positive mark in this world. Kathy Witkowski

Cousin Lynn, I first met Bob at Bruces going into the service party in 1973?
Anyway, there he was in a confederate (?) army uniform making everyone laugh
and winning your heart. I remember thinking this guy is way too silly for Lynn.
IMAGINE THAT! Was I wrong! He was a good man and you made him happy.
Soon the pain will allow all of the good memories to be enjoyed but in the meantime you have your coocoo family by your side. Love Kathy

Lynn, you are one of the best people I've known in my life, you shouldn't be dealt this heartache. My solace is knowing everyone feels the same about you so you will be surrounded by love and support. Bob is (you know me, I won't say 'was') a kind and gentle spirit who worked his magic with plants and animals. He will have the best botanical gardens in heaven! - Love you, Reeni
