Robert Leinweber Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 18 to Jul. 19, 2006.
LEINWEBER _ Robert (Bud) Roger 1929 - 2006 Robert (Bud) Roger Leinweber of Balzac, Alberta passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at the age of 77 years. Bud was born in Calgary on May 8, 1929. He attended the University of Calgary and was retired from his teaching career with the Calgary Board of Education. Bud will be sorely and deeply missed, more than words can say, as a devoted, loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather (Buddy). He had a great love of music and was a gifted musician who enjoyed playing the violin. Bud and Joy loved the years spent playing in the Calgary Symphony Orchestra. Bud's wife Joy will miss their annual honeymoons to warm destinations. He will be remembered by his children for his patience, as he taught them and their children to water-ski on the Shuswap. Bud will be remembered by his grandchildren for the fun Disneyland trips year after year as he went on all the rides with them. Bud leaves to mourn his passing, his childhood sweetheart, best friend and loving wife of fifty-six years, E. Joy Leinweber; his children, Robert Dean Leinweber of Calgary, Sherrie Lee Leinweber-Morton (Mike) of Balzac, Christopher Edmund George Leinweber (Wanda) of Calgary, Shannan Joy Campbell (Brent) of Crossfield; grandchildren, Ren Leinweber, Cayland Leinweber, Lane Leinweber, Justin (Andrea) Morton, Lee Morton, Kyle Leinweber, Liam Leinweber, Kiana Campbell, Ashlyn Campbell; and his sister, Shirley Georgine Leinweber of Calgary. Bud was predeceased by his father, George Leinweber and mother, Jessie Marie Leinweber. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1504 Main Street North), Airdrie on Thursday, July 20, 2006, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Church, on Thursday, July 20, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at the Airdrie Cemetery. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. While we never met your dad, I know you have many happy memories of fun times spent together.

My earliest memories of my Uncle Bud are of a funny little man who would come to our house and show me that he could take the top part of his finger off. I could not pull it off, and it seemed perfectly normal on sight. To a young mind, this was absolutely amazing, and, obviously, this man must be someone special! As I grew older and more inquisitive, I realized that there must be some force at work which allowed my Uncle Bud to be able to do this, and eventually I did discover how the illusion worked. I owe a great debt to my Uncle Bud; for this was no mere trick. In performing the feat he opened my mind to the challenge of discovery, the insight to understand that things may not be exactly as they seem and the tenacity that is required to investigate a problem to a satisfactory conclusion. As it turns out, my young mind and my older mind agree: Uncle Bud was someone special.

On behalf of my mother, Shirley, and I, we would present our most solemn condolences and we will sorely miss "Bud", uncle, brother and friend, more than words can convey.

Rest well.

Uncle Bud,

Kind in soul, loving in heart...the world will be emptier for your having left it, and our lives, lonelier, yet more special, for having shared it with you.

To Bud's family,

I was so sad when I read that your loving Bud had passed away. I know he was a dearly loved husband, dad and grandpa. I'm glad that I had the chance to say hello to him at a baseball game a little while ago. He was always a favorite neighbor who I enjoyed visiting with whenever we ran into each other along the way. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
