Robert Lee Lewis, Handy Man, was born in East Chicago, Indiana, on August 7, 1942, raised in the small farm area. He passed away at the age of 82, at Methodist Hospital, N.L., on June 1, 2025. He attended Calumet High School. He retired from U. S. Steel and he enjoyed working on cars, fishing and bowling. Robert was a very loving , caring and strong willed man. He loved his family tto no end. He was an honorary member and gave his support to Beth-Eden M. B. Church, and throughout his community, family and friends. He preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Mae Lewis, his parents, Ola Mae and Junior Lewis, his brothers; Charles Lewis, Willie Lewis, Johnny Lewis, Arthur Lewis, sisters; Lucille Lewis, Edna Harris, Lorraine Peyton, Mary Jones and Rosa Lewis. He leaves to cherish his memory, 3 sisters; Margaret (Bernard) Robinson, Vera (Paul) Jones and Gloria Lewis, 1 god-daughter, Justina Fuller, 1 sister-in-law, Coral Lewis, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Wake Friday June 13,2025 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Funeral 11:00 a.m. all services at Powell-Coleman Funeral Home 3200 W. 15th Ave Gary,In. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery Gary,In.
