Robert Miles Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 26, 2025.
Robert John "Bob" Miles, 81, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, in Rochester, New York. Born on August 17, 1943, in Olean, New York, Bob lived a life marked by resilience, faith, and devotion to his family.

Bob was a beloved father to Daniel (Jennifer) Miles, Thomas Miles, Jennifer (David) Golden, Joseph Miles, and the late Robert John Miles Jr. (1965–1984). He was a proud grandfather to Jessica Rix (daughter of Robert John Miles Jr.); Daniel's children: Kolt Eadie, Destiny, Robert John Miles III, Chase, Emmille, and Summer; Thomas's children: Thomas Miles and Cierra; Joseph's children: Ashley, Zachary, and Kaitlyn. He also embraced his role as step-grandfather to Melinda (Gabe) Ortiz and Manny Vilarinho. His legacy continues through four great-grandchildren: the son of Melinda and Gabe Ortiz; the daughter of Robert John Miles III; and two children of Jessica Rix.

Bob is also survived by his siblings Marvin, Peggy, Ray, and Jim Miles. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will remember him with affection. He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Emma Miles.

A man of deep Christian faith, Bob served as an elder at Scottsville Community Gospel Church. His spiritual convictions were central to his life and inspired those around him. Whether offering guidance or sharing a laugh during fellowship gatherings, Bob's presence brought comfort and joy.

From a young age, Bob demonstrated remarkable ingenuity-assembling cars from junkyard parts with creativity and determination. This early passion for mechanics evolved into a lifelong career as a skilled crane operator. His hands were rarely still; he had an enduring love for welding and technology that kept him engaged well into his later years.

Known as a strong protector who could fix anything he set his mind to, Bob was admired for both his strength and his sense of humor. His laughter echoed through family gatherings and church halls alike-a sound that will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.

A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will be held, with details to follow.

May the memory of Robert "Bob" Miles bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a lasting testament to a life well lived in faith and love.
