Bob Murphy, was my best and long lasting Friend. I' knew Bobby when he first because a Trooper. I was 15 year's of age and he became my mentor and Friend for well over 40 years. We departed of some time but Fate brought us together when he worked out of the DA's Office and I helped him close over fifty cases. Bobby turned me into a real Trooper - He was a Cops, Cops. I knew his wife and kids from an early age. He helped me through life, and tought me at a latter age about people. I will Truly miss Him. A Friend, Partner, and a person who would take on any task no matter what it was. Bobby and Myself were going to write a Book together back in 1990. But he was living the life. So I in turned wrote the Book myself and added he name within it. It was called A Big House for Little Men, by Michael W. McKay. Myself, Bobby and Andy, hung each week-end watching NASCAR. He was a big fan of it. Bobby, I will always remember you and so will my wife and 2 Kids. My wife remembers when you came to our wedding. When they made you, they broke the mold. You had so many FRIENDS. and I was so lucky that you came into my life, we met and we both came from the same part of Boston. So, I will end saying I love you Bobby, and for those of you who don't know what this means, Google it. I've said it all my Friends who Died. "SYOTOS" Your Friend Michael W. McKay aka (Mikey Thurber)

To the Murphy Family - Bob was such a nice guy and a great friend to my dad. We had so much fun with Bob when he found out my dad never went fishing and decided to take him on a fishing trip. They had more laughs that day. Please know that you are all in our prayers and may the memories that you keep close get you through this most difficult time.

Bob was a great guy. It was always a pleasure to work with him when he had business with the prison.

Bob was one of the funniest, most interesting, focused and smartest men I ever met. I was fortunate to work with Bob on the Mass Pike for five years, and then at the DA's office in Norfolk County for seven years. I was lucky enough to call him a friend.

Bobby was my cousin and only three years older than me. I have many memories of him when I was younger and lived in Massachusetts. He would often stay at Grandma's house at the same time Janice and I were there. When I was in the convent, he gave me a ride in his flashy red & white Chevy. He took my sons and I to a Red Sox game. My sons, Travis and Tom still have the fishing rods he gave to them when they were young. Through the years we intersected, but I knew that if I called him we could pick up from the last time. I spoke to him a month ago around his birthday and he told me he was doing well even after being diagnosed with cancer. The last thing I said to him was I'll be praying for you and I love you." I am sad that he has passed away and he will be missed. My thoughts are with Natalie, his children, Janice, Ginny and
Bill. May the Lord comfort you and may his memory bring you a smile. Maura (Campbell) Gostinger

To the Murphy family,
Very sorry to hear about your loss.
I worked with bob on the state police. He always watched out for me, and made sure the boys treated me right on the job. Classy guy. Rest in peace Bob.
