Robert Sager Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 10, 2024.
Robert Alan "Bob" Sager of Beloit, 82, passed away unexpectedly at UW Hospital in Madison on Sunday, May 5, 2024, following a tragic accident. Bob was born on October 25, 1941 in Lancaster WI, the son of Bill and Leona Sager. After graduating from Lancaster High School in 1959, he went on to receive a degree in Civil Engineering from the UW-Platteville School of Engineering in 1963. He then went to work for the City of Beloit Engineering Department where he remained for nearly 40 years, serving as both a Project Engineer as well as the City Engineer prior to his retirement in 2002. For many years, Bob also volunteered as a Special Resources Officer for the Beloit Reserve Police force and could often be seen assisting at various city events. Among the numerous forms of recognition, he received over the years were his 1975 award as "Young Engineer of the Year" from the Wisconsin Society of Professional Engineers and an award for "Outstanding Young Public Employee" from the Beloit Jaycees in recognition of his distinguished and dedicated service to his community. Bob was a jolly yet reserved individual who was usually able to brighten up the day for those around him. His pastime was going to auctions and finding unusual items as requested by friends. Bob also spent quality time on the backwaters of Lake Wisconsin not catching fish, but where he had a trailer. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his older brothers Walter and Carson. He is survived by his sister, Norma Sager Donovan of Madison and his niece, Susan Sager Davies of Middleton as well as her children Brittany Hayes, Chelsie Rux and Ryan Drew. Celebrations of Life will be held at a later date in Beloit and in Lancaster. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI, assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in the name of Robert A. Sager. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.daleymurphywisch.com.
