Robert R Solmonte

Yarmouth Port - Robert (Bob) R. Solmonte, age 81, of Yarmouth Port and formerly of Braintree passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

Bob is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mona (Griffith-Corliss) Solmonte, his son Mark and wife Kate,

and his beloved and adored grandchildren Gray and Lane. Bob is also survived by his two sisters, June Danubio of Kingston, Georgette Carlson and her husband Don of Weymouth, his brother-in-laws and wives, John and Linda

Griffith of Hanson, Mark and Jacqui Griffith of Missouri, William and Kathy Griffith of Maryland, his

sisters-in-law and husbands, Mary Goes and John Needham of Buzzards Bay and Gemma and Robert

Mueller of Florida, Bob is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his two step- brothers, Francis Pellegrine and Thomas Pellegrine.

Bob was the eldest child of the late Thomas Solmonte and Anne Pellegrine. Bob was raised in the

South Shore area and spent some of his youth in California. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1966, serving until 1968 in the Navy Reserves.

Bob began his career working in the automobile industry, as a partner and owner of S & E Foreign Auto

and S & E Racing of Braintree. He was also a very active participant in racing the vintage vehicles he built and maintained. Bob's love of foreign sports cars was immeasurable.

Bob went on to study for and become a licensed plumber working for several plumbing companies and eventually worked on his own. He was the Plumbing Inspector in Provincetown for a number of years and then became a part time inspector in Yarmouth. He worked for Cape Cod Community College as a plumber prior to retiring.

Prior to moving to Cape Cod, Bob was very involved in the Sons of Italy of Braintree and a member of the

Town of Braintree's Planning Board.

Bob loved to fish and spent many summers enjoying the challenge of tuna fishing out of Green Harbor Marina.

He continued to always own a boat and enjoyed living on the water. Grandpa Bo spent many enjoyable hours with his grandson Gray, and always had a great pirate story to share with him.

Interment will be held on December 1, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree, MA. All are invited to attend.
