My heart is deeply sadden.Mr.Starling was the best role model a young boy could ever have.I grew up in Murray Hill with three brothers and a single mom.Mr.Starling took me in as I became buddies with Robert.Instantly he became a father figure to me.He took me and Bert to Jacksonville Suns baseball games, fishing, hunting and great summers at Lilly Lake.He tought me life is fun, but before fun you must earn it. With Mr.Starling it was getting all the chores done(cutting grass, maintenance on vehicles, delivering fire wood)then go have fun. A full day of fishing in the St.John's River was a must. Coolers full of croakers, yellow mouth trout, and drum. We had to clean all the fish, boat, rod&reels then it came. The best fish fry in Murray Hill. Who could forget those hush puppies(or shut up dogs as Sharon called them)that Ida made. Then when you could not eat any more the Mississippi mud cake would appear.Lunch in the woods during hunting season was simple. Mr.Starling would put cans of beans & franks on the exhaust manifold of the truck. He would drive around 20 or so minutes take the cans off open them and instant hot hot food.I also learned to drive that old truck at the age of 15. That same year Mr.Starling helped me fulfill my dream of owning my first car! I will always have fond memories of a great man that came into my life. Now I am older (45) and have a son of my own. He came to live with me and my wife at 7 months old. I have a lot to tell him about how fun it was growing up. I have Mr.Starling to thank for exposing me to the many fun things in life.God Bless You And Your family. The World lost a really good man. I will never forget you! Love Steven,Michelle & Nicholas Thornton

We want to let all of the family know how much Jackie will be missed. I don't remember a time in my life that Jackie wasn't there; the trips to Camp Blanding, the celebrations and the sorrow. I know that the memories will live on. Bless each and everyone of you.
