Robert Swigart Obituary

Robert S. Swigart, 70, of Factoryville entered the presence of our Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 23, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart. He was born in Hampton, Va., on May 15, 1945.

He was preceded in death by his father, J. Wesley Swigart, and is survived by his mother, Marion Suloff Swigart of Reedsville. He is also survived by his best friend and loving wife of 51 years, Judy Heimbach Swigart; a son, Gregory Alan Swigart and his wife, Carla, of Nazareth; and a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Swigart of Factoryville. He had three grandsons, Dillion, Connor and Galin; a brother, David Swigart and wife, Erla; a sister, Kay Kearns; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Swigart.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Swigart; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Kearns.

He graduated from Lycoming College in 1967. He held various management positions in the trucking industry, including Roadway Express, Eastern Express and Consolidated Freightways. He retired from Allied Services. He was a charter member of Country Alliance Church, Clarks Summit, where he served as Elder, Treasurer and used his God-given vocal talents. Bob used his wonderful sense of humor to lift the spirits of anyone he met. He had a love of Civil War history and was an active member of the Civil War Trust. Bob enjoyed visiting many civil war battlefields and cemeteries. He was a faithful weekly volunteer at the Keystone Alliance Rescue Mission.

Bob was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2015, at 1 p.m., at Country Alliance Church, 14014 Orchard Road, Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Carl Berg, Pastor. The family will receive friends at the church from noon until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Keystone Alliance Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 470, Scranton, PA 18501-0470.
