Robert Veith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 4 to Jan. 6, 2024.
Parma - Robert R. Veith, 81, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Born September 27, 1942 in Erie, PA. Bob was the son of the late Robert and Hazel Lavery Veith. He was a graduate of Cathedral Preparatory School and Gannon University in Erie. He went on to earn a Master's Degree in Mathematics at the University of Detroit and did further studies at St. Louis University. It was there that he met the love of his life, Kathryn (Kay) Cain. Bob worked as a computer programmer at the GE plant in Erie, a Senior Programmer Analyst at LTV Steel, and as a programmer/developer at McKesson Corporation.

Bob deeply loved his family, and was a selflessly generous man. His family and friends will always be grateful for the many times he stepped up to lend a helping hand. He loved listening to classical music, playing baseball, watching the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns, and working in his yard. He was a life-long learner in the areas of history and religion and a devoted Catholic and active member of Holy Family Parish where he served for many years as a lector at Mass as well as an eighth grade PSR teacher. His greatest joy in his later years was the time he spent playing with his granddaughter Maliyah.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Kay; his beloved daughter Lauren Veith-Murillo; his granddaughter Maliyah Murillo; his sister Mary Ann Fangsrud (Armand) of Missoula, MT; his brother Fred Veith (Dianne) and his nephews Fred Veith Jr. (Kelly), and Robert Veith all of Erie, PA; Adam Fangsrud (Sarah) of Missoula, MT; Charles Perry (Heather) of Indianapolis, IN; Thomas Perry of Kokomo, IN; Jeffrey Harden (Alexis) of Columbus, OH; his nieces Kathryn Carpenter (Steven) of New York, NY, and Stephanie Black (Dan) of Mentor, OH. He was a great-uncle and friend to many.
