Robert Young Jr.

Robert L. (Bob, Bobby) Young, Jr. Robert L. (Bob, Bobby) Young, Jr. passed away February 7, 2010 with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie & Robert L. Young. He is survived by: his wife Tammy and daughter Kaitlyn. He is also survived by Tammy's children that loved him dearly, Sarah Beckner & husband Brad, Melissa Merrill & husband Dave, Bobby Haynes; eight grandchildren, Meagan, Olivia, Jared, Caylee, Riely, Devon, Ian, & Hannah; twin sister, Barbara Allen & husband John; nephews, Sam & Patrick; in-laws, Kaye & Frank Sellers, Jim & Elaine Dull; and numerous other relatives Bob was an accomplished trombonist playing with many Big Band Orchestras. He taught Band and Special Education for many years in Botetourt and Floyd counties before suffering a traumatic brain injury in 2004. A period of visitation was held on Wednesday February 10, 2010 at Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd, from 5-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday February 11, 2010 at Maberry Funeral home Chapel with Rev. Dick Giessler officiating. Interment to follow in Evergreen Burial Park, Roanoke. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to BISSWVA (Brain Injury Services of South West Virginia) in Bobby's name: BISSWVA, 302 2nd Street, 3rd Floor, Roanoke, VA 24091. The family would like to thank Carilion Hospice and the many Health care professionals over the years.
