ROBERTA POPKIN Obituary
On, Saturday, February 17, 2013, Roberta (Bobbie) Elaine Popkin, age 75. Caring daughter to the later I. Aleck (1991) and Belle (1997) Brand; beloved wife of the late Irving Popkin (2009); loving mother of Deborah Rudoy (Paul) and Stephen Popkin (Minna); devoted grandmother of Beth and Matthew Rudoy, and Bowen Deren Popkin. Also survived by younger sister Suzan Zukerman (Michael) and numerous nieces and nephews. Bobbie was renowned for her expertise and dedication as Guardian Program Director for Ursuline Senior Services, and for her advocacy on behalf of seniors as Protective Services administrator for the Area Agency on Aging. She will be remembered for her tenacity, intelligence and independence. Donations in Bobbie's memory may be made to Mt. Lebanon Village, 710 Washington Rd., Pittsburgh, PA, 15228. No visitation or service. Arrangements trusted to the care of D'ALESSANDRO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY LTD., Lawrenceville.

Oh my goodness, so many stories about Bobby, but which one to share...how about this one? I was guardian of a man named Morrie Rosenberg who called almost daily. If I wasn't available he would ask for Bobby, who he called "Punkin". He would argue with her if he didn't get what he wanted and she was always patient with him. He manufactured a reason to call most of the time and she would take the time to talk to him. She was such a special lady. You always think of her as a little spitfire first but she was truly wonderful.

As I do not live in Pittsburgh I on;y learned of you dear mother's death. I had the pleasure of working with her at Ursuline Services where she was a wonderful mentor and a true credit to her profession. Yes, she was tenacious and a perfectionist but she was also very loving, caring and giving. I am so grateful for the opportunity of having known her. She will be missed but never forgotten. Please accept my humble condolences for your loss.

Bobbie was a great lady. She had so much spunk and a big heart. She gave me my first paying job when I was still in high school. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. She will be missed.
