Robin Behrens Obituary

Robin Rea Behrens of Los Angeles, Calif. passed away Dec. 18, 2004 in the Veterans Administration Hospital of Los Angeles at the age of 62 years, 7 months, of a spinal cancer that had only been diagnosed Nov. 24. He had visited his Minnesota family in the Floodwood and Aerie Lake areas seven months ago the week of his birthday. Robin Behrens was born May 27, 1942 in Sterling, Ill., and moved with his family to Floodwood in 1949 when Archie and Dorothee Behrens bought the Floodwood Forum. He attended elementary school in Floodwood, and completed his high school education at Weyland Academy in Owatonna with the class of 1960. He attended junior college in Dubuque, Iowa. Robin served with the U.S. Navy in Guam in the early sixties, then settled in the Los Angeles area where he lived and worked for the rest of his life. His parents and brother Gordon Behrens preceded him in death. He is survived by one son, Christopher, 20, who resides in Culver City , Calif.; his brother Arthur 'A.J.' (Martie) Behrens of Ardenvoir, Wash.; sisters Patricia Gray, Duluth, Sue Behrens, Aerie Lake, Alborn, and Nancy Raihala, Floodwood; his devoted companion of eleven years, Rita Baxtresser of Los Angeles; and several nieces and nephews. SERVICE:The Los Angeles Veterans Administration is planning a memorial service for recently departed servicemen on March 15, 2005, and Robin's name is included on the list of those who will be honored. Robin's cremated remains will be brought back to Minnesota and a private memorial service is planned by the family at a later date. Harrison-Ross Mortuary of 4601 So.
