Rocky Ramos Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 11, 2024.
Rocky Louis Ramos went to his heavenly home on April 11, 2024. We know what a reunion it was upon his arrival with his loving parents yet the grief of his loss is overwhelming.

Rocky was born in Tampa, Florida to Augusto and Hope Ramos. The family moved to Atlanta when Rocky was young and he grew up in Decatur, GA with his beloved older brothers, Michael and Cookie. The Ramos family was well known and very involved in their community. Rocky could always be found during his childhood summers at Medlock Pool or playing numerous sports in the community. He attended Shamrock High School and graduated in 1980. Rocky was a varsity athlete known for wrestling and playing football. After high school he went to work for Rich's department store selling big ticket items like stereo and television equipment. Rocky was formerly married to Susan Morrison and they had a successful video production company for fifteen years. In recent years he owned a landscaping company and did HVAC work. Rocky prided himself as being a jack of all trades. "He knew a little about a lot of things" is something he always said.

His greatest accomplishment in life were his three children, Rocky Nicholas Ramos (Olivia), Michelle Ramos Lane (Hunter), and Lillie Ramos Thompson (Trip). He loved knowing all three of his children found the love they were always meant to find in their spouses. He was a loving and devoted father, always present for everything in his children's life. When you think of a great man, Rocky comes to mind because of his selfless generosity, kind nature, and easy going spirit. Rocky was known for being a dance, softball, cheerleading, and football dad. He was the best cook and loved feeding and housing his kids and their many friends. Rocky's house felt like a safe place and home to so many and was filled with laughter and memories that those still here will never forget.

Rocky's legacy will be carried on by his children and grandchild, August Rose Ramos, as well as his beloved nieces (Stephanie, Danielle, Charlotte, Natalie), nephew (Michael Jr) and large extended family of aunts and cousins.

A celebration of Rocky's life will be held on Tuesday- April 16th, 2024 at Snellville Community Church, formerly Snellville United Methodist.

*** Visitation at 1pm, followed by celebration of life at 2pm and all are invited to a reception following the service in Wesley Hall.***

In lieu of flowers, one of my dad's favorite charities was The Amanda Riley Foundation. Please consider donating in Rocky's honor to help support childhood cancer patients needing a smile brought to their face. This is an amazing 501c charity close to the Ramos families heart!

Website: Amandarileyfoundation.org or send checks to 70 White Oak Drive Newnan, GA 30265.

Donations to Snellville Community Church would also be appreciated.

I will always remember Rocky´s smile, especially when he was telling me how well his kids were doing. I met Rocky when my daughter played softball with Michelle. It was the first year of fast pitch and my daughter had not really played softball since tball. He was always so kind, so encouraging and I immediately noticed how wonderful he was as a father. He LOVED his family. He will be remembered always! God Bless you and God Bless Rocky Ramos.

I am so sorry Lillie. Your Dad was a big part of Shannon´s life with all the fun sleep overs with you and all your friends. He was a great softball coach to Shannon and all the softball girls he coached. I still have a recipe that says Mr. Rocky"s Chocolate Chip cookies. They were the best. Your Dad was such a nice and gentle guy. He will be missed by many. Ms. Pam - Shannnon´s Mom

i will always remember the best, and biggest sleepovers (30 kids sometimes haha), with the yummiest foods and the most loving and fun energy. my life would not be what it is and i would not be who i am had i not known michelle and rocky. he most definitely deserves some credit for helping raise me and loving me when i was young. i am so thankful to have had even a small chapter to share together. he will be so greatly missed, deeply loved, and lovingly remembered.
