Roger Jack Gines, loving husband, father and grandfather, and great-grandfather died peacefully at home on Friday, March 12, 2010 at the age of 77. Roger was born October 13, 1932, in Woodland, Utah, to Rex and Thelma Gines. He was the seventh of twelve children. Roger was All-State in football at South Summit High School. He married Velda Harvey on March 15, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple. Roger was a retired General Contractor, building quality custom homes with his son, Mike, throughout Davis County. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, Jazz basketball, traveling, and family gatherings. He was an active member of the LDS church, serving in various callings. He and Velda enjoyed attending the temple weekly in their later years. Roger is survived by his wife, Velda, of 59 years, four children; Michael R. (Joan), Joyce Price (Tony), Marie Partridge (Ron), and Rex H. (Natalie), all of Davis County, 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; brothers; Don J,. Howard; sisters: Thora, Ellen, Margaret, and Bernice. Preceded in death by his parents, one brother, four sisters, two grandsons and 1 great-grandson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Mueller Park 4th Ward LDS Chapel, 1320 East 2050 South, Bountiful, Utah, Friends and family may call Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, and on Tuesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
