ROLAND F. BUTZ

Roland F. Butz, 81, of Upper Nazareth Township, formerly of Lower Nazareth Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 02, 2014, in the loving care of his family at St. Luke's Hospice, Lower Saucon Township. He was the husband of Doris L. (Shimer) Sutter Butz with whom he shared 8 years of marriage last December 16th. Born: on January 25, 1933 in Hecktown, he was a son of the late Floyd and Lillian (Nicholas) Butz. Personal: Roland honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. A member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local #773, Allentown, he was employed by Preston Trucking as a truck driver for 24 years. Prior to his retirement in 1996, Roland was a truck driver for North American Bulk where he was employed for 4 years. Memberships: He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hecktown, and he enjoyed professional wrestling and playing cards. Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Doris, he is survived by two (2) sons, Glen A. Butz and his wife, Christina of Chapman Quarries and Robert F. Butz and his wife, Kristin of Bethlehem; three (3) step-sons, Allen H. Sutter, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Bethlehem Township, Chris D. Sutter and his companion, Judith of Bushkill Township, and Scott L. Sutter and his wife, Christine of Catasauqua; a step-daughter, Lori L. Sutter and her companion, Bridget of Emmaus; eight (8) grandchildren and three (3) great-grandchildren; a brother and seven (7) sisters; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy L. (Mack) Butz in 2000 with whom he was married for 44 years, as well as a son, Richard Butz in 2002 and a sister, Ruth Butz who was a toddler. Services: will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 323 Nazareth Pike, Bethlehem (Hecktown), PA 18020. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. in the church. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in the Hope Cemetery, Hecktown. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the George G. Bensing Funeral Home, Inc., Moorestown Bath. Memorials: Contributions in memory of Roland may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
