Rolanda Lenore Whitmore

Rolanda "Ro" Lenore Whitmore, 71, born in New Jersey, February 4, 1937, passed away in Scottsdale, Arizona, March 31, 2008. Rolanda married the love of her life, William (Bill) H. Whitmore in 1957, who preceded her in death after 50 years of marriage. She was an entrepreneur with a natural instinct for business. Over the course of her life, Rolanda successfully owned several businesses both in New Jersey and Arizona. Her strong work ethic transferred to her sense of civic duty and humanitarian efforts, and she devoted many, many hours and years to the Elks, American Legion, Election Day voting precincts, and Hospice. A member of the Red Hats, Ro embodied the spirit of, "live, love, laugh!" Rolanda is survived by her brothers and sisters: Louisa (Hal) Childs, Victor (Rose) Del Grosso, Gay (Allen) De Kler, and John Del Grosso. She is also survived by her loving and devoted children: Robin (Tim) Putnam, Bill (Diane) Whitmore, Vicki (Lee) Whitmore; her five grandchildren: Shawn, Katie, Timmy, Jesse, and Holly; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who all hold her in their hearts. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale, Arizona, Sunday, April 6, at 1:00 PM, with reception immediately following at the same location.
