Ron LeFebvre Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 30, 2021.
Ron LeFebvre, 86, of San Clemente, CA, passed away on January 26, 2021. He was born to LaVerne and Gilbert LeFebvre in Long Beach, CA. He served two years in the Army and completed his college education. Ron played professional baseball for a short time and then worked in the hospital industry while training boys and girls in baseball and softball pitching and hitting in the evening. In 1968 he opened the first indoor training center choosing to be a coach full time. Over the years Ron has trained thousands of young people who became champions, giving them the opportunity to be recognized for their achievements. Many received college scholarships for baseball or softball. He trained his own daughter, Susan, who won the Honda Brodrick Award for the outstanding softball pitcher in the United States. Ron counseled and inspired athletes to reach higher and stretch further to attain their goals. He lived a life of service, passion, and dedication to athletes and the sport he loved. He leaves his wife, Cara, five children and eight grandchildren. Well done, good and faithful servant.

My sister and I spent so many hours with Ron and his coaches from middle school through high school. We drove down from Pasadena, initially once a week and then twice a week. The work ethic Ron instilled in us carries on to this day. And those hours we spent there - just my sister, my dad, and me - will always be something I treasure. Rest In Peace, Ron. You did so much good and your legacy will carry on for many years.

Ron holds such a special place in my heart. He coached my boys, Seth and Luca. After coaching I would listen to his stories over and over... I never grew tired of them. Sending love and prayers. God bless.

Ron coached my daughter Allison for several years at his school in RSM. Ron was so knowledgeable, kind, passionate about the game, you always knew he cared about his students and wanted them to follow their dreams of playing college softball. I enjoyed hearing all his stories about his life, baseball career and how he was so proud of all his students. We love you Ron and will miss you!

Ron would never brag about himself. So, I’m going to take this opportunity to do it for him. He was simply the BEST in so many ways. He was a BEYOND incredible human and will always be our hero. I was coached by him from 7 years old through college. My family and I also had the pleasure of Susan’s friendship. My son attends his school today.

All the life lessons I needed to learn, I learned from Ron, indoors, in a room covered in brick dust

Those lessons stretched far beyond softball, amongst them were:

•Education is important, and it’s never too late.
•Doing the hard stuff is what gets you somewhere.
•Your success is up to you.
•Put in the work.
•If you believe in yourself as much as he does, you’re right.
•Susan LeFebvre was, and still is the gold standard to which all softball pitchers should aspire.
•Class, loyalty, integrity, and humility are important on and off the diamond.
•Baseball and softball should be fun.
•Travel will make you richer.
•You can never go wrong wearing all black.
•Ron is ALWAYS right.

To say that I’m grateful that my son got to experience just a fraction of what I did growing up with his influence would be an understatement.

Sending love and prayers to the family and all who love him.

Regards,

-Kelly Mandella - D. and Family

He was my best friend for 66 years - working together, playing golf, softball, water skiing, basketball, and viewing many hundreds of Ram, Dodger, and Laker games through the years together. He was Manager of the Arabs Teams for many years. If anybody who played with us contact me at (541) 382-5127. Till we meet again in Heaven dear Ron.

Our daughter was blessed to be coached by Ron from age 8 to 18 years of age. In doing so we also became blessed with the coaching and friendship of his daughter, Susan. Surrounding his family in love and prayers. A true legend in the baseball and softball world and dear to our hearts ♥ ❤

Many years since we went to his clinic with our son Seth. At the time Ron was mainly coaching the girls, but somehow bonded with our son and we are so ever grateful, he helped him get into an Ivy League college and he is now using the knowledge Ron gave him to help his son in baseball Rest in Peace

The Russell’s spent many a night in Ron’s cage hitting and pitching. And many a homework page was turned in stained with Ron’s brick dust.

In recent years, I was able to take my boys Aidan and Gavin to Ron’s for lessons as well.

Ron you will be missed!!

Love and hugs to the Lefebvre Family. Thank you for sharing Ron with us and allowing us to learn from his expertise.

Ron empowered me to be & do my best. Unlimited gift of a coach. He saw the best in me & made me laugh. I have him to thank for my softball scholarship to IU (Hoosier), the Big 10 was a good fit for me & so was Coach Gayle Blevins. Thank you Ron! for opening doors & being you. "Bigger than life" definitely is a good description of him. Hugs to his family & loved ones.
