RONALD DICKS Obituary
Peacefully in his sleep at home on Thursday, January 10, 2013. Beloved husband and cherished companion of Jean Murray. Cherished father of John (Corinne Cox), Catherine Clement and Christopher (Roberta Partridge). Predeceased by his son Andrew (Andrea Dicks-Reich) and grandson Benjamin. Loving grandfather of Ian (Erin), Brenda, Matthew, Gregory, Juliane, Elena and Christian and great-grandfather of Skylar and Jackson. Former husband of Carol Dicks. Fondly remembered by his sisters Ruth, Sandra and Brenda, and brothers Joe and John in Newfoundland. Ron, a committed Christian, poet and deeply spiritual man, spent his life caring for others and touched the lives of many. Friends may call on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road (at Roosevelt). Funeral Service at St. Aidan's Anglican Church, 955 Wingate Drive, Ottawa, on Wednesday, January 16 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Christian Meditation Community or Threshold Ministries would be appreciated. I met Ron in 2001 at the Rideau Library's writing group. I remember his stories of Newfoundland, his home province. Ron was very good in keeping our little group together, a good facilitator. And I still have his 'meditation on Lent', so beautifully written. Thank you, Ron.
